Difference Between Tempered and Annealed Glass

Normally there are two main categories of glass which are tempered glass and annealed glass. Both glass types may look the same however they have differences in processing.

Annealed Glass

It is the raw form of glass which is not tempered yet. Annealed glass is less strong as compared to tempered glass. It is also the cheapest type of glass.

Tempered Glass

This glass type is called tempered because it is made by toughening or tempering annealed glass. In the tempering process glass goes from a special furnace which heats the glass at a certain temperature to give it extra strength. After cutting a tempered glass cannot be cut or resized.
